چکیده

An adaptive minimum symbol error rate (MSER) linear multiuser detector (MUD) is proposed for direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems employing multilevel pulseamplitude modulation ( -PAM) scheme. Based on a kernel density estimation for approximating the symbol error rate (SER) from training data, a least mean squares (LMS) style stochastic gradient algorithm called the least SER (LSER) is developed for training linear MUDs. Computer simulation is used to investigate the performance of this LSER MUD.

Nonlinear Multiuser Receiver for Optimized Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems

Chaos based communications have drawn increasing attention over the past years. Chaotic signals are derived from non-linear dynamic systems. They are aperiodic, broadband and deterministic signals that appear random in the time domain. Because of these properties, chaotic signals have been proposed to generate spreading sequences for wide-band secure communication recently. Like conventional DS...

Adaptive minimum symbol-error rate equalization for quadrature-amplitude modulation

We propose the adaptive minimum symbol-error rate algorithm, which is a low-complexity technique for adapting the coefficients of a linear equalizer in systems using pulse-amplitude or quadrature-amplitude modulation. The proposed algorithm very nearly minimizes error probability in white Gaussian noise and can significantly outperform the minimum-mean-squared error equalizer (by as much as 16 ...

Adaptive near minimum error rate training for neural networks with application to multiuser detection in CDMA communication systems

Adaptive training of neural networks is typically done using some stochastic gradient algorithm that aims to minimize the mean square error (MSE). For many classification applications, such as channel equalization and codedivision multiple-access (CDMA) multiuser detection, the goal is to minimize the error probability. For these applications, adopting the MSE criterion may lead to a poor perfo...

Adaptive minimum-BER linear multiuser detection

An adaptive minimum bit error rate (MBER) linear multiuser detector (MUD) is proposed for DS-CDMA systems. Based on the approach of kernel density estimation for approximating the bit error rate (BER) from training data, a least mean squares (LMS) style adaptive algorithm is developed for training linear MUDs. Computer simulation results show that this adaptive MBER linear MUD outperforms two e...

Performance of Single User vs. Multiuser Modulation in Wireless Multicarrier (MC) Communications

Abstract-The main objective of this paper is to compare block transmission system performance analytically for Code Divisional Multiple Access (CDMA) modulations in Generalized Multicarrier environment against linear modulation techniques for both single user and multiuser. The effectivity of GMC-CDMA for multiuser will also be judged for different Direct Sequence CDMA (DS-CDMA) such as MC-CDMA...
